Starting this semester with the addition of staff member Aniello De Lucia, a new annual recreational sports program will be available to students, providing a holistic approach to health, well-being and wellness by offering a number of different healthy activities.
Aniello comes to Franklin from the Universit脿 della Svizzera italiana (USI) and SUPSI where he ran the Sports Office. He has a Master鈥檚 degree in Sports Management from the University of Bologna.
Over the course of the fall semester there will be regular weekly intramural and outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain bike and rock climbing. Aniello is also working on offering specific courses - total conditioning workout, cardio dance and Pilates, which will be听taught by qualified professional instructors.
鈥淚t is a work in progress, indeed, as we are just getting started鈥, noted Aniello. 鈥淚 look forward to collaborating with key FUS departments and student organizations to plan and create activities that strengthen the university鈥檚 recreational programs and increase usage of the Tone Athletic Center. I鈥檇 love to get any suggestions about the program or ways to get students, faculty and staff involved. We know that besides just being fun, sports can help one perform better in school, deal with setbacks, work better with others and increase energy.鈥
The long-term goal of this new program is to bring Franklin into the Swiss University Sports Federation network leading to collaboration with the sports services of other universities, as well as the promotion of national and international student sporting events. 鈥淚 am also excited at the prospect of creating a program for elite athletes in the future,鈥澨齬emarked听Aniello.
Welcome on board, Aniello! Have an 鈥榚nergizing鈥 semester!
