A webinar with Dr. Fadhel Kaboub, organized by faculty of Masters in Political Economy of Money and Development.
On Thursday, April 22, at 4 p.m., the Masters in Political Economy of Money and Development is offering a thought-provoking virtual event on "Colonial Reparations and a Green New Deal for the Global South".
The webinar, hosted by Dr. Fadhel Kaboub -ÌýAssociate Professor, Denison University and President, Global Institute for Sustainable Prosperity - focuses on theÌýchallenges and dilemmas the world is facing because of global climate change. The Global South is currentlyÌýenduring most of this climate crisis, butÌýpreparing for climate change impactÌýshould also be addressed byÌýthe Global North with a more active role. Dr. Kaboub proposes a Global Green New Deal, paid for, through colonial and climate reparations. This will also mitigate the economic difficulties faced by the Global South, which are directly attributed to extractive colonial and neocolonial policies.ÌýClimate adaptation is today an emerging policy domain, where collective actions are required to tackle the adversities.
