Grad School Support for AmeriCorps Members through Our Partner, C5LA

City Year L.A. has partnered with C5LA to provide college and grad-school application support for current AmeriCorps members.

We have more than 30 CYLA AmeriCorps members currently participating in the program and have collectively submitted a total of 105 total applications to schools such as LMU, CSUN, Claremont Lincoln University, CSUDH, CSULB, Pepperdine, USC, UCLA, and more!��

“The coaching sessions really gave me a lot of guidance on how to navigate and think about applying to graduate school. One of the most helpful parts was receiving feedback on how to enhance my statement of purposes, but the most helpful part was the accountability. The sessions lit a fire under me to complete and work on everything in a timely manner by keeping me accountable through the check-ins, which I really appreciated! C5LA made it much easier for me to tackle thinking about and applying to grad school by meeting me where I was at! They broke down what to do into steps according to where I was in the process and was super accommodating with working with me on one of my tight deadlines.”

“During my first coaching session, I expressed my concerns about feeling overwhelmed with the application process. My feelings were immediately validated, which I 100% appreciate. During the in-person workshop, I got some assistance on my resume. I also received additional resources for writing my personal statement during my 1:1 meetings. Overall, Yesenia and Jessica have been understanding and resourceful during my application process.”
