The City Year Greater Boston Seven Generations Associate Board is a dedicated group of volunteers from the Greater Boston area who advocate for City Year Greater Boston (CYGB) and its AmeriCorps members. With a commitment to social impact and citizen service, members support CYGB's mission while promoting a deeper understanding of its work.
“I serve on the Seven Generations Board with City Year because I believe that access to quality education is fundamental to nurturing engaged communities. I confidently stand behind City Year’s mission, as I am certain that education is the foundation upon which we build a more equitable society.”
“I serve on the 7 Generations Board because it takes a village to support and empower a new generation, and as a former Corps Member, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of having a City Year Team in a school.”
“I support City Year because the work they do makes a meaningful difference in the lives of ӰԺ every day.”
“City Year is our opportunity to serve and support two “generations” of young people – the corps members who lead youngsters and the youngsters themselves – all of them learning and growing during an incredible City Year”
“Students in the greater Boston community arrive at school each day greeted by their AmeriCorps team and sit down in their classrooms knowing that they will have the individualized attention they need to navigate the day and succeed throughout the school year – what a transformational experience for a child to have this unwavering source of support and encouragement.”
“I serve on the Seven Generations Board to give back to the dynamic young people serving as City Year corps members and connect with friends old and new”
“I serve on the Seven Generations board because it’s a way to support an inspiring organization while meeting great people."
“As a parent who sees the importance of education in my children’s lives, I’m thrilled to support an organization which works tirelessly to enrich the educational environment for local ӰԺ as well as their own corps members.”
“I serve on the Seven Generations board to support the next generation with an incredible organization!”
“I would not be where I am today without my mom’s devout companionship when I struggled with reading difficulties as a child. I want to do what I can to ensure ӰԺ who don’t have that support also have a companion to reach their potential.”
“City Year serves a critical role in our public school systems. In the years that I have volunteered, I have seen the impact of the benefit provided to the children in our public school system, increasing attendance and critical measurements in science, reading and math. I am proud to have served as a volunteer and supporter of City Year for more than 10 years and look forward to continuing to do so for years to come.”
“City Year’s mission resonates strongly with my past experiences, and the AmeriCorps members are doing amazing work to support & empower ӰԺ – I am grateful to be a part of such a high impact and enthusiastic organization!”
“I served as a CM and joined the 7Gen Board because access to a great education shouldn’t be determined by zip code.”
"Serving with City Year over 10 years ago has had a profound and lasting impact on who I am as a person and as a professional. It shaped my work ethic, the lens through which I view the world, and learnings I think about daily. I continue to be involved with CYGB not only because of all it has given me, but because investing in our community and the success of young people is vitally important. Our humanity is intrinsically tied."
“I serve on the Seven Generations board because I've seen firsthand the work AmeriCorps members do to ensure ӰԺ are 'in school and on track' to graduate, and I want to support that continued work each year.”
